DoD Source! Pre-Loading Now!

Man, Just when I thought BF2 had me by the short hairs, freaking Valve release the pre-load for DoD: Source. I was a die hard DoD player back a few years, and now I got that urge to lay prone with the mg44 and bring the heat!

I am stoked! I loved HL2(The ending was lametastic, but...) and I am sure the new engine will make DoD another form of 3d crack, waiting for me to get hooked on.

Peace

Baby Steps...

This weekend I decided to play with PHP and MySQL...finally. I have been procrastinating for ever and I have been watching my buddies with php programming experience, just rattle out cool web sites.

I decided it was time and I just finished installing Apache, MySQL and PHP, I appear to have a working installation, as of this post, which makes me happy.

I did have some initial trouble, but after googling the hell out of PHP, I got to the answer. I found some crazy pages along the way, but I ultimately found 2 great tutorials that were missing but one piece of info. I'll post the secret soon, who am I kidding no I won't :)

I have been on a working vacation the last week, didn't have any where cool to go this summer, so I spent alot of time in front of my pc cathing up on some web design, and some eMarketing research and the occasional 3-hour marathon BF2 session, my god I have along way to go to get promoted :( My dismal stats are below!

Well anyway, I am working on my first PHP project - Hello World! is about to happen!

Butunuh!

New Year's Eve 2004

Like most people, I am planning to act on a new year's resolution. I think this year will be the year I stick to one. 2005 is going to be an exciting year for me professionally as I release the 4th version of digitaldoormats.com, which is a small web design firm I founded in 1999.

I am also releasing the first ever website for my web hosting and data management business -ddhd.com. I have been working professionally in web site design and multimedia since I joined the Marketing Department at Long Islands 14th largest private company, OMSG Inc. I specialize in Flash, Director and video compression, along with front end web design resposibilities including a redesign using a CSS driven approach.

I did manage to complete a redesign for dynamicstew.com I am working on a flash version as well for a 2nd quarter 05 release.

This year is going to be a year full of challenges and triumphs and I look forward to making the best of the next 365 days.

Happy New Year!

Tis the Season

Another December is here! This year is going to end with a bang, I am working with a really good local Funk band on Long Island. The band is called Dynamic Stew and they are really very talented. I came to know of Dynamic Stew through the founder of the band, Ray Holman. Ray and I work together and we came to talking about websites and music and we have been friends/partners ever since.

The guys in Dynamic Stew are set to play at the Lion's Den in NYC with Special Guest form the legendary Funky Meters. I will be in attendance, when ticket information is available, I will put a link up here as well.

I am working on a revamp to the Dynamic Stew website. I want to make a site that's front end is prettier than it's back-end, and while the current stew site does the job, I feel that it does not tell the entire story for the band. I am implementing a CSS driven solution with some PHP scripting courtesy of my good friend and mentor Thom Wetzel.

Thom has been an invaluable resource and I enjoy working with him every day. Be on the lookout for Thom's latest shareware project called snow saver is just in time for the holidays. I will post the link once Thom has his project finalized, LET IT SNOW!

Random Thoughts

Well, I have had this blog up for some time now, only I never use the thing. Times they are a changing. I have so many projects on the docket it is getting harder to keep tack of them all.

Things at my day job have been going smootly, I am working on a rather large project to re design our companies website. I have instituted a CSS driven design for quite a few different reasons, but I just love learning CSS and with graphics and flash it comes out great.

On a side note, I am looking to get my company digitaldoormats.com reorganized for business starting in January 05. Things are great now. I have a small client base of really nice people and I love working with them.

The Practice of CSS Column Design: Boxes in Columns
